Feed the Birds

Recently most of our family got COVID. We were pretty sick, and it's taking a long time to get back to a normal energy level. When I finally got back into the kitchen, some of my fruit and veggie supply was past its prime. Rather than throwing it out, I decided to use it to try luring some birds back to our backyard.

I sliced the oranges into 1/4 inch thick slices and spread them out on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. I baked them at 200 degrees, flipping them over every hour or so. It took about four hours to get them dried out nicely.

The next day I strung them, alternating with some slightly withered cranberries, and hung them outside. We don't have too many birds around now that winter is here, but maybe this will bring the few we have out of hiding.

Is bird watching a nerdy thing? Asking for a friend.
